Around the Neighborhood and Boating in Annecy, France

Kellen has quickly become a biker! We now enjoy daily rides. Devan has mastered his tricycle as well and pedals along furiously!

Kellen and Devan's new school - College Du Leman!

Annecy, France, a beautiful city about 45 min from Geneva. The water was incredibly blue as you can see and is surrounded by the Rhone Alps. We rented a small boat and took a cruise around Lake Annecy. But first, the boys test the waters on the carousel boat, then onto to the bigger machinery ...
"Ay, Ay Captain" ... as Kellen enjoys the view from the bow of the boat!

Oh yea - Kellen was driving! Hang on!

Kick-off to Summer - Yvoire, France then to the Kiddie Pool

Well the summer has kicked off here in Geneva, at least we hope so anyway! Our thermometers have shot up to 85+ degrees the past few days so we are well on our way to a beautiful summer. We enjoyed a nice, hot Sunday with a ferry ride from Nyon, Switzerland (15 min. drive north from our home) to Yvoire, France. Our boat ride was a short 20 min trip across Lake Geneva but the boys loved it and the breeze felt wonderful. In Yvoire we enjoyed lunch on a terrace while taking in views of the serene lakeside and the very quaint, medieval town. We returned home to the first poolside splash in our backyard!

Yvoire, France...

Cooling his feet in Lac Leman!

Think the boys had fun in this shop?!

Flowers, flowers everywhere!

Taking a break in the shade to enjoy a slushy!

Trying on some fun hats!

The return journey - a kiss for Mommy...

It really was this blue...

Let the games begin...

Euro 2008! Fan Zone Fun in Geneva - 14 June

It's a very exciting time here in Europe - SOCCER! Switzerland and Austria have the privilege of hosting the Euro 2008 - the European national soccer championship held every four years. The boys supported their "adopted" country of Switzerland by sporting jerseys for the home team and have enjoyed watching a few minutes of the games on TV. Unfortunately, the Swiss team had some bad luck this go round and are out of the tournament now but we will continue to follow the excitement. Soccer has a huge fan base here in Europe, as you can imagine, and because Geneva is so international we see lots of fans from different countries displaying their flags on cars, homes and apartments as well as wearing their national colors daily. There are several "fan zones" throughout Geneva where people can go to take in the games on huge screens as well as enjoy concerts, booze and good food. We understand there is a significant Portuguese community in Geneva and their team seems to be going strong in the tournament. We here lots of horn honking and screaming following the games!
Go Suisse!

So which flag should I get?

The jumpy soccer ball!

Relaxing in the stands ... no big crowds yet!

And another flag for the hand ... go Italia!

... and the boys pick the flag for Daddy - Greece?!

Of course - it had to be Switzerland!
